The foundations of the new Sydney Football Stadium have been laid with the pouring of the first concrete building slab.
Over 150 cubic metres of concrete was poured this week, over an area that will be part of the new stadium’s player and coaching facilities. Fittingly, sporting legends that played at the former stadium were on hand to celebrate the milestone.
NSW Origin Coach Brad Fittler, former Wallabies star Phil Waugh and Socceroos Head Coach Graham Arnold performed a ceremonial footy boot imprint into the concrete and opened a time capsule full of mementos from 1988.
Acting Minister for Sport Geoff Lee said the project is investing in local companies during COVID-19 and will continue to utilise as many local suppliers and subcontractors as possible through to completion.
