Guidance note: Selecting carbon tools and data sources

This guidance note provides guidance on selecting tools and data sources for a project. It is intended to help measurement practitioners understand the appropriate carbon measurement and management tools, databases, and calculation assumptions to use on different NSW Government project types.

NSW Embodied Carbon Databook

Infrastructure NSW has worked with NABERS and Transport for NSW (TfNSW) to consolidate and align on the underlying emission factors and assumptions to enable consistent measurement of embodied carbon across asset types.

The NSW Embodied Carbon Databook workbook presents those harmonised emission factors that underpin the NABERS Embodied Carbon Calculator, the TfNSW Carbon Tool and the TfNSW Engineering Cost and Carbon Library. These factors and assumptions are presented in the Embodied Carbon Databook, to be used by projects beyond the building and transport sectors.
